• LacePag lace is a unique product of the hard-working and skilful hands of the women from the town of Pag. Lace-making is a very old tradition throughout the Mediterranean. In the town of Pag, the making of lace for the needs of women’s and clerical vestments was already recorded in the mid-15th century. In 2009, Pag lace was registered in the list of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
• Folk AttirePag’s folk attire is especially beautiful and known throughout Europe. When speaking of Pag folk attire, one first thinks of the old-style women’s clothing, particularly the lace made by needlepoint, the blouses and headgear (called pokrivaca).
• Stacked Stone WallsStacked stone walls and boundaries are a vital aspect of Pag’s past and eternal monuments to the arduous life of Pag’s labourers, who built and maintained them for centuries. Based on the length of the preserved stacked stone walls of approximately one thousand kilometres, the island of Pag is one of the richest areas in Croatia for this type of construction.
• Summer and Winter CarnivalsThe Pag carnival has a long tradition. The Winter Carnival is organized for the local population, and it begins on the first Saturday after the Epiphany and it lasts until Ash Wednesday. During this period, dances (tanci) are organized every Saturday. On the final three days, the carnival festivities move to the central town square. The Summer Carnival is held on the last weekend in July.
• Lokunja - Medicinal MudA natural spa rich in mud sediments is situated in the Lokunja section, in the very heart of the town of Pag. This mud effectively treats rheumatism and various skin conditions. The olive trees of Lun make it a unique place on the island of Pag, but also in the world. Among 80.000 olive trees in the area of Lun, there are about 1.500 wild olive (lat. Olea Oleaster), with the height of 5-8 m and a diameter of 20-80 cm. Experts have estimated the age of some trees more than 1.500 years!
In the central part of the island, in a sheltered bay of Pag gulf, there is a small tourist village - Metajna (Italian meta - center, center - geographic map.). He is best known for its sandy beaches and coves and crystal clear waters. On the northwest side Metajna is connected by road with other places called Barbati - Zubovići and Kustići - and with Novalja (12 km), the center of the northern part of the island. The nearby city of Novalja offers our guests the possibility of a dynamic nightlife with many discos, bars, restaurants and shops. Metajna is located directly by the sea and the surrounding hills, and to the south lies the green valley with low Mediterranean vegetation. It is also the region of the wine-growing with many small vineyards. During hot summer months continuous flow of air that circulates between the hills and the sea, brings freshness and allows residents and tourists a more enjoyable stay. Metajna is giving You a broad view of the entire gulf of Pag, and beyond. The sea is crystal clear and pure. The sea current is giving a perfect flow of fresh sea, but the bays and gulf are sufficiently closed, so that the sea is never too cold or too warm. In Metajna you will find all sorts of dishes, mostly seafood - all kinds of fish freshly caught by the local fishers. You can also enjoy shellfish, lamb, ham, cheese ... At every step You can drink domestic wine, which is proud of every house in Metajna, and there's even homemade brandy and sherry, and healthy homemade tea, grapes, figs ... HOW TO REACH US? From Zagreb you have to drive with highway toward Karlovac, Split and EXIT Senj / Žuta lokva. Before Senj turn left to Karlobag. After 50 km's turn right to port Prizna. From the car-ferry port Prizna you have to drive 10 km's to Novalja. Before Novalja turn left to Metajna. Metajna is the last village on local road. By the Pag's bridge you have to drive to Pag, than Kolan and toward Novalja just before Novalja turn right to car-ferry. Than right on local road to Metajna. The distance between Pag and Metajna is 30 km's. If you are planning on coming by boat, you can anchor it in Pag's bay.
